Today we will introduce you to some of our more senior developers and designers. These guys and gals are masters of their craft, so take any opportunity to glean info and experience from them!
Stacks and Technology
At BWTC, we employ a diverse set of technologies and frameworks that are always evolving to meet the ever-changing demands of the technology industry. On the back end, we primarily use Node.js, Django, and .NET. If you know anything about these frameworks, you know how different they are from each other. To help you here, here is a list of the “in-house pros” for each framework. For .NET that would be Josh Dunlavy, for Django talk to Justin Schiff, and for NodeJS you want to contact Michael Wallert.
On the front end, we tend to stick to the JavaScript world. React and Angular are the dominant technologies we use, and the people to contact for questions about those are Alex Gutierrez and Tom Alperin, respectively. We don’t just build web applications, we also make native mobile applications using React Native and NativeScript. Andrew Pethoud will be your go-to for React Native and Basim Elayan can help with your NativeScript needs. We hope this quick guide will come in handy when you run into those head-scratcher problems. At BWTC, we highly encourage you to reach out when you feel stuck or stumped, even if it’s just for a rubber ducky moment!
Design Team
BWTC has some crazy awesome design talent that are part of every project we do. Design is involved from very early on in the project life cycle (see below). It's the design team's job to understand what the clients goals are and how to best bring them to life through the app that we are building. They will thoughtfully compose beautiful UI’s (user interfaces) and bring them to life through clickable prototypes.
Mauro Mustillo is BWTC’s main application designer, so make sure to reach out and say hello to Mauro!
Invision Invision is the tool we use to share designs with clients after they've been completed. There is a very important timeline of events that happens when we kick off a project. That looks like:
We're omitting several steps above (...) but having the client sign off on a project is a crucial moment for the project. It informs the client of what the app is going to look like, and more importantly how it's going to function. Invision gives us all of this functionality in one toolkit. If you haven't already, ask your manager to add you to the Invision team so you can begin using it for your projects.
